4th Anniversary in White Oak & Big Meadows

Our anniversary this year was spent close to home in the beautiful setting of the Shenandoah Mountains. We traveled up into the Park and took the White Oak Canyon trail from the upper falls this time instead of the lower. The weather was frightfully hot and humid below in the valley, but Vermont-like once we were at some elevation. The hike was gorgeous! The water was even better, and so was the company. Eddie and I enjoyed an incredibly tasty dinner at the Big Meadows Lodge in the Park, and were quite surprised with the quality of the food! After dinner we took a (rather chilly for VA!) walk around the grounds of the lodge and went up to a peak to look at the lights at night, were we saw at close distance a baby barred owl! Wonderful night!
